We are pleased to announce the publication of Dreams Deferred: A Concise Guide to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and the Movement to Boycott Israel by Professor Cary Nelson, co-chair of the Alliance for Academic Freedom (AAF), an affiliated group with The Third Narrative (TTN). The book is a compilation of scholarly essays by experts on various aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Topics include “Anti-Normalization,” “BDS and Christian Churches,” “From Ferguson to Palestine,” “Holocaust Inversion,” “The Nakba,” “Pinkwashing,” “Proportionalty and Asymmetric Warfare,” “Socially Responsible Investing,” and “Temple Mount / Haram al-Sharif.” The book is an alphabetized guide offering the key information people need to be empowered in discussion and debate about this most intractable of conflicts. One of its unique features is a series of essays differentiating the roles the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement plays in different cultural domains. Many of the contributors are members of the TTN groups, Alliance for Academic Freedom (AAF) and Scholars for Israel and Palestine (SIP).
“For all of us who hope for a decent peace between Israelis and Palestinians, who oppose the occupation and the BDS movement, who defend, against all odds, the two state solution, this book is powerful intellectual armor and an intellectual sword.” –Michael Walzer, Professor Emeritus at the Institute for Advanced Study and author of Just and Unjust Wars, Thinking Politically, The Paradox of Liberation, and other works.
